Havana Music Hall
book by Carmen Pelaez
lyrics by Richard Kagan and Jose “Perico” Hernandez
music by Richard Kagan
music supervisor: Larry Blank
director/choreographer: Maria Torres

June 29-30, 2017

Havana Music Hall’s best known band is on the rise in a thrilling, creative 1958 Cuba. Husband and wife team Rolando and Ramona Calderon are on the verge of breaking through to the world’s stage when the Revolution tears the only world they have ever known apart.

Almost sixty years later, we find the duo trying to forget the past in the now devastated Havana Music Hall, but others won’t let them.

Havana Music Hall‘s story captures the pain and joy of the Cuban experience like nothing before. As hearts break, spirits will soar with the original score, which has the audience dancing in their seats.

The Green Book
by Calvin Ramsey
director: Keith Cromwell

GreenBook

February 17-19, 2017

During the days of Jim Crow laws and segregation, an African American’s travel across the country was extremely difficult. The Negro Motorist Green Book, published from 1936-1966, was a resource for travelers which identified safe places for African Americans to eat, purchase gas, spend the night, and access other services in foreign towns. The play, a work of historical fiction, explores the injustices faced during this critical period of U.S. history. It takes a fascinating twist as a Jewish concentration camp survivor encounters a salesman for The Green Book while passing through town on his way to honor the African American veteran who saved his life.

Broadwayworld.com

The Sun Shines East…is a cry, a plea for the abandoned and unwanted children of the world. It is an urgent call to action as children continue to be used as pawns by politicians throughout the world. If we do no speak up for them, who will?”
